On May 13rd, 2021, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine held a meeting to announce the selection criteria for the specialties of Anesthesiology and Recovery, Midwifery, Pre-hospital Emergency, Functional Rehabilitation for the Bachelor of Nursing in 2021. The meeting was held online to ensure the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the meeting, the Faculty of Nursing – Medical Technology announced the quota for the specialties of Midwifery, Pre-hospital Emergency, and Functional Rehabilitation, each with 20 students and Anesthesiology and Recovery with 30 students. At the same time, the Faculty also informed the admission criteria for each specialty and answered any questions from students. This activity can help the students better understand every specialty in Bachelor of Nursing that the University is training, thus providing the students with better future career orientations and study directions.

The meeting was honored with the present of PhD.Dr. Phan Nguyen Thanh Van – Vice Director of the University, Msc. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha – Head of Student Affairs Department and Deputy Head of Academic Affairs Department, Msc. Lam Thi Thu Tam, and Specialized nurse 1, Ho Thi Truc Phuong, – Vice Head of the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Technology as well as lecturers of the Anesthesiology and Recovery, Midwifery, Pre-hospital Emergency, Functional Rehabilitation department.

PhD.Dr. Phan Nguyen Thanh Van said in the meeting: “Recently, we have celebrated a very meaningful occasion, the International Day of Nursing. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to wish all the nursing lecturers and all the students health, happiness, confidence and consistency with their chosen profession. Making such decisions to follow their favorite and suitable profession will further their paths with lots of achievements. Please listen to yourself, consider what your favorite major is, what your strengths are suitable for the most. Because only when we do what we love, live with our passion, can we succeed and dedicate ourselves to the work and patients.”

In order to help the students understanding and making the most appropriate decisions, lecturers of the Anesthesiology and Recovery, Midwifery, Pre-hospital Emergency, Functional Rehabilitation department have introduced in detail about the training program, postgraduate study and employment opportunities of each specialty. At the same time, the lecturers also answered students’ questions through the online meeting application.

After the meeting, several students have a better understanding of specialties and also expressed their desire to study their favorite specialty. Students who did not have a specific orientation also raised their own questions. All the students have been guided specifically by lecturers to choose the right path depending on needs of the medical human resource market and their own strengths.
